Reading notes

Things to be careful about

  • Manual transcription created from the user-supplied TIFF; local OCR was useful for orientation but not treated as authoritative.
  • The obituary says Gordon died "yesterday"; the publication date makes this 9 April 1984, matching the death certificate.
  • The death place is recorded only as "St. Luke's Hospital" in this clipping; the existing death certificate supplies Maumee, Lucas County, Ohio.
  • The clipping names "Mrs. Cathy Johnson" as Gordon's sister. This is linked to Catherine Margaret Ponceby as a likely match because of the rare surname family context, the existing Kathryn/Cathy identity chain, and the Robert Ray Johnson marriage lead, but the source remains proposed pending user review.
  • The 10 April clipping does not name daughters Gayle or Laura, son Bruce, or brother Peter Cook; the 11 April 1984 follow-up notice adds them.
