Iacofano Paternal Line Review Bundle - 23 April 2026
Scope
This bundle continues Tony / Anthony L. Iacofano's paternal line research while
keeping the repo source-first. On 23 April 2026, the user directed acceptance of
the 1941 marriage record, 1940 census, and 1920 Yaciofano census source, and Mary
J. Laurenzo/Iacofano was promoted to a canonical person. John/Giovanni Iacofano
and the collateral children remain in 07_leads/.
Target chain:
Tony / Anthony L. Iacofano -> Arthur Joe Iacofano -> John/Giovanni Iacofano and Mary J. Laurenzo -> Italian place-of-origin evidence.
Accepted Sources
source-marriage-record-arthur-joe-iacofano-mary-ricciardi-1941
Accepted by user direction on 23 April 2026. Direct image-backed parentage anchor for Arthur Joe Iacofano. It names his father as John Iacofano and his mother as Mary J. Laurenzo, while also giving Arthur's residence as 2025 Random Rd. The FamilySearch citation block has been added from the preserved citation page.
source-census-iacofano-household-1940
Accepted by user direction on 23 April 2026. Image-backed census source placing Arthur, age 17, in widowed Mary Iacofano's household with likely siblings Biagio, Dorothy, and Lawrence, plus nearby Joseph Iacofano. The 2026-04-23 re-read corrected the enumeration district to 92-469 and corrected the eldest son's first name from Biggio to Biagio.
source-census-yaciofano-household-1920
Accepted by user direction on 23 April 2026. Image-backed lead source for the earlier household. The 2026-04-23 re-read corrected Mary from daughter to wife and corrected John/Mary birthplaces from Pennsylvania to Italy. The household surname is Yaciofano and the house number is 2025, which makes it a strong comparison point for Arthur's 1941 residence at 2025 Random Rd. The street name still needs a better image read before it is normalized.
source-census-cuyahoga-cleveland-township-1910
Negative/context-only source after re-review. No Iacofano/Yaciofano household was identified on the page, so it should remain unlinked unless future address or enumeration-district research reconnects it.
Person Promotion
- person-mary-j-laurenzo-iacofano-1885 was created from the accepted 1941 marriage, 1940 census, and 1920 Yaciofano census evidence.
- person-arthur-iacofano-1923 now has Mary J. Laurenzo/Iacofano as a parent.
lead-mary-j-laurenzo-iacofano-1885is retained aslead_status: promotedfor trail continuity.- John/Giovanni Iacofano was not promoted; he still needs another document-backed corroborating source.
Lead Records Remaining
lead-john-iacofano-1874: Arthur's father per 1941 marriage record; possible John Yaciofano in 1920.lead-albert-yaciofano-1910: possible older collateral child from the 1920 Yaciofano household.lead-anna-yaciofano-1914: possible collateral child from the 1920 Yaciofano household.lead-biagio-iacofano-1915: likely older sibling in the 1940 Mary Iacofano household.lead-joseph-iacofano-1918: nearby 1940 household head and likely collateral sibling.lead-dorothy-iacofano-1925: likely sibling in the 1940 Mary Iacofano household.lead-lawrence-iacofano-1928: likely sibling in the 1940 Mary Iacofano household.lead-art-iacofano-1952: likely Art/Arthur Jr. in Arthur Sr. and Mary Ricciardi Iacofano's household, based on the accepted 2018 Mary obituary and 1973-1974 Euclid News-Journal notices at 373 East 232 St.; do not promote without direct identity evidence.
Free/Library-First Research Disposition
- 1930 census: no free/public image was captured in this pass. Search next using Iacofano, Iaciofano, Yaciofano, John/Giovanni, Mary/Maria, Biagio/Blaise/Biggio, Joseph, Dorothy, Lawrence, and address 2025 Random Rd.
- Cleveland city directories: 1921, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1938, and 1940
page-localized CPL sources are now in the repo, and 1942 plus 1943-1944 are
also represented. The continuation pass added the stronger 1921 part 1
surname page and a 1932 surname page, so the remaining public CPL follow-up
is only the 1921 part 2 Laurenzo page that reads
2025 Rondell rdrather than a cleanRandom rd. - News-Herald obituary path: Arthur J. Iacofano Sr. is already represented by an accepted index source. Lawrence J. Iacofano, age 69, appears in the public News-Herald obituary index for 23-24 August 1997 and should be requested from Willoughby-Eastlake before being used as evidence.
- Naturalization: search Cuyahoga County and federal Cleveland petitions for John/Giovanni Iacofano, Iaciofano, and Yaciofano after the 1930 census or city directories narrow the identity.
- Passenger lists: defer until naturalization, obituary, or census evidence gives a credible immigration year or Italian locality.
- Secondary death-index aggregators and recent obituaries surfaced possible collateral hints for Albert, Biagio/Blaise, Joseph, Dorothy/Dorathy, and Lawrence, but they were not ingested as source records in this pass because document-backed or library-copy evidence is preferred.
Cleveland Directory Continuity (1921, 1929-1940)
Implemented on 23 April 2026 using the public Cleveland Public Library CONTENTdm
page-level API. All of these directory source records are status: proposed.

- The 1940 page contains two Arthur entries, so it is useful continuity evidence but not enough on its own for a normalized residence event or a resolved occupation claim.
- The remaining public CPL follow-up page from this lane is page

Item 3 - Obituary and Necrology Lane
Implemented on 23 April 2026 using public/library-first index paths only.
All new source records are status: proposed and type: online_index.
No 01_people/ records were updated and no event records were created because
the artifacts are index/citation pages rather than original obituaries or
death records.
Search Variants Used
- Surnames: Iacofano, Iaciofano, Yaciofano.
- Given names: John/Giovanni, Mary/Maria, Albert/Alberto, Anna, Biagio/Blaise/Biggio, Joseph/Giuseppe, Arthur, Dorothy/Dorathy, Lawrence/Larry.
- Maternal variants: Laurenzo, Lorenzo.
Proposed Online Index Sources Created
- source-online-index-cpl-necrology-iaciofano-john-1932: CPL necrology/cemetery index entry for "Iaciofano, John," 1887-1932, Lakeview Cemetery Prospect List. This conflicts with the current about-1874 John/Giovanni lead and should be treated as a possible variant or separate person until the cemetery record is obtained.
- source-online-index-cpl-news-index-maria-iacofano-1976: CPL News Index citation for Plain Dealer obituary "Iacofano, Maria : Wife Of Late John," 21 March 1976. This is the strongest Mary J. Laurenzo/Iacofano obituary candidate and should be requested first.
- source-online-index-cpl-news-index-albert-iacofano-1979: CPL News Index citation for Albert Iacofano, husband of Adeline, Plain Dealer, 4 July 1979.
- source-online-index-cpl-news-index-biagio-l-iacofano-1994: CPL News Index citation for Biagio L. Iacofano, husband of Rose N., Plain Dealer, 2 February 1994.
- source-online-index-cpl-news-index-joseph-j-iacofano-1991: CPL News Index citation for Joseph J. Iacofano, husband of Rosemarie, Plain Dealer, 13 November 1991.
- source-online-index-cpl-news-index-lawrence-j-iacofano-1997: CPL News Index citation for Lawrence J. Iacofano, husband of Eileen J., Plain Dealer, 24 August 1997.
- source-online-index-news-herald-lawrence-j-iacofano-1997: News-Herald obituary index entry for Lawrence J. Iacofano, age 69, publication dates 23-24 August 1997.
No duplicate source was created for source-death-index-arthur-j-iacofano-1985. CPL Plain Dealer obituary citations for Arthur Sr. on 24 and 25 January 1985 should be treated as future library request targets for a full obituary source.
Search Dispositions
- Cleveland News Index: found high-value request targets for Maria Iacofano, Albert, Biagio L., Joseph J., Lawrence J., and Arthur Sr. Lower-priority or likely separate-cluster hits include John L./John L. Jr., Arthur 1997, Dorathy G., Rose, Rosemarie, Amanda, and Mike.
- Cleveland Necrology File: found the 1932 Iaciofano John cemetery index entry and separate-cluster clues for Blaise/Joe 1969, Lawrence 1972, and Olga 1971. Do not merge the Lawrence/Palma or John/Olga cluster into the Arthur/Mary line without corroborating records.
- News-Herald obituary index: found Lawrence J. Iacofano age 69 in 1997, matching the existing Lawrence lead hypothesis. John L. Jr. 1995 and John L. 2001 remain possible collateral request targets. Nunzio F. Iaciofano 1982 and Amanda Carol Iacofano 1987 are likely unrelated or low-value for this line.
- Mary J. Laurenzo/Lorenzo lane: no direct CPL hits for Mary Laurenzo, Maria Laurenzo, Mary Yaciofano, or John Yaciofano. The Maria Iacofano wife of late John obituary citation is the priority candidate.
- Passenger lists remain deferred until a naturalization, obituary, census, directory, or original death record gives a credible immigration year or Italian locality.
Library Request Priority
- CPL day 1, limited to three scan requests: Plain Dealer obituary for "Iacofano, Maria : Wife Of Late John," 21 March 1976, page 01 section 00; Plain Dealer obituary for "Iacofano, Lawrence J: Husband Of Eileen J," 24 August 1997, page 7 section B; CPL necrology/cemetery record for "Iaciofano, John," 1932, Cemetery record Reel #41.
- CPL day 2: Plain Dealer obituary for Biagio L. Iacofano, 2 February 1994, page 11 section C; Joseph J. Iacofano, 13 November 1991, page 09 section H; Albert Iacofano, 4 July 1979, page 07 section D.
- CPL later: Arthur Sr. Plain Dealer obituaries from 24 and 25 January 1985, plus lower-priority collateral scans only if the first two batches do not resolve the John/Mary/Lawrence questions.
- Willoughby Public Library: request News-Herald obituary scan for Lawrence J. Iacofano, age 69, publication dates 23-24 August 1997. Keep John L. Jr. 1995 and John L. 2001 as lower-priority collateral News-Herald requests.
Scan Request Packet
On 23 April 2026, the scan request packet was prepared at iacofano-library-scan-requests-2026-04-23. It includes the exact CPL day 1, CPL day 2, WEPL News-Herald, and Morley fallback request text; contact paths; reserved ingestion targets; conflict rules; and validation commands.
Later the same day, the manual-access continuation re-opened the CPL form in Safari and confirmed the Day 1 request text is still ready to submit. The form still requires requester first name, last name, email, email confirmation, deceased/subject, date of death, additional information, and Google reCAPTCHA fields, so no submission was made from this pass. The Day 2 and WEPL/Morley request text remains queued behind that human-submitted step.
No original obituary or cemetery scans were found in 00_inbox/ or
05_raw/pdfs/ during this implementation pass, so no original-scan source
records, event records, lead updates, or 01_people/ updates were created.
When scans arrive, ingest one artifact as one status: proposed source record
and keep the existing online index records as secondary evidence.
Immigration Records Search Pass
Implemented on 23 April 2026 and documented in iacofano-immigration-search-implementation-2026-04-23.
This pass used the fixed Iacofano/Iaciofano/Yaciofano/Jaciofano search matrix for John/Giovanni, Mary/Maria, Mary J. Laurenzo/Lorenzo, Albert/Alberto, Anna, Biagio/Blaise, Joseph/Giuseppe, Dorothy/Dorathy, Lawrence/Lorenzo, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ward 19, Random Rd, and house number 2025.
Results And Disposition
- Library scans remain the first active target. The prepared CPL and WEPL/Morley request packet is still the highest-value route to John/Mary/collateral relationship evidence.
- Residence-continuity searches did not expose a free/public 1930 census image, target index entry, or Cleveland city directory page tying John/Mary/Arthur to 2025 Random Rd. A same-day Safari check confirmed that the FamilySearch 1930 census collection is reachable, but searching from the collection page redirects to FamilySearch sign-in before result review. Signed-in FamilySearch/Ancestry/library access and Cuyahoga County Archives directory holdings are still needed.
- Naturalization remains the best next immigration record class. Public web search did not expose a target petition, declaration, or card for John/Giovanni or Mary/Maria, but FamilySearch Cuyahoga County declarations, petitions, card indexes, and the federal Cleveland index remain the next interfaces.
- NARA AAD/Flexoline is now confirmed browser-reachable from this environment.
The only same-day surname hit was a likely separate
MARIA A. IACIOFANO, A-numberA5680106, born 1869 and registered in Cranston, Rhode Island, so Mary/Maria remains a strong AR-2 candidate only if a later Cleveland/Cuyahoga match appears. - Passenger lists remain deferred. No passenger candidate met the two-anchor identity test.
- Italian civil/parish records remain deferred until a U.S. record gives a credible comune or province.
Secondary Hints
- Ancestry public/profile snippets name Arthur's parents as Giovanni (John) Iaciofano and Maria Giovanna Iacofano, with suggested dates 1877-1932 and 1885-1976. This remains a secondary/public-tree clue only; it does not promote John/Giovanni or resolve the 1932 John conflict.
- AncientFaces lists Mary Iacofano with 12 September 1885-March 1976 Cleveland dates and lists several collateral Iacofano deaths. This is useful only as a comparison clue for the CPL Maria obituary and future death/SSDI evidence.
No new source records were created from this immigration search pass because no
document image, scan, PDF, or likely-match official index artifact was captured
for ingestion. No 01_people/ records were updated.
Online Media Pass, 1970-1985
Implemented on 23 April 2026 and documented in iacofano-online-media-pass-1970-1985-2026-04-23.
This pass searched public/free online newspaper, yearbook, obituary-index, family-history, cemetery/memorial, and broad-public-web lanes for artifacts from 1 January 1970 through 31 December 1985. The existing 1971 Anthony L. Iacofano Euclid News-Journal source, the existing Maria 1976 and Albert 1979 CPL index sources, and the existing Arthur Sr. 1985 News-Herald index source were not duplicated.
Proposed Newspaper Sources Created
- source-euclid-news-journal-bgsu-honors-list-notice-for-art-iacofano: Euclid News-Journal, 12 July 1973, page 2, naming Art Iacofano of 373 East 232 St. on Bowling Green University's spring quarter honors list.
- source-euclid-news-journal-bus-stop-notice-for-art-iacofano-student-teaching: Euclid News-Journal, 24 January 1974, page 16, naming Art Iacofano as assisting North High School's production of Bus Stop while student teaching.
- source-euclid-news-journal-bgsu-graduation-notice-for-art-iacofano: Euclid News-Journal, 21 March 1974, page 7, naming Art Iacofano of 373 East 232 St. among Euclid residents receiving bachelor of science degrees in education at Bowling Green University's 16 March commencement.
All three sources are linked only to lead-art-iacofano-1952. No canonical
person or event record was updated because Art/Arthur Jr.'s full identity and
parentage still need direct corroboration.
Candidate And Negative Results
- Euclid High School yearbook OCR for 1970-1985 had no Iacofano/Iaciofano/ Yaciofano/Jaciofano hits. The 1965 Euclid High School hit for Anthony Louis Iacofano and Lynda Lee Iacofano is out of this pass's date range.
- St. Joseph High School's 1972 yearbook names Timothy/Tim Iacofano and may be a public collateral photo lead, but no relationship to this household was established.
- AncientFaces and Ancestry-style public profiles remain secondary lead lists unless an original artifact is available.
- No new CPL, Plain Dealer, News-Herald, or staff/account scan targets were added beyond the existing request packet and HIR archive.
Current Impact
Mary J. Laurenzo/Iacofano is now canonical as Arthur's mother. John/Giovanni should remain a lead until at least one additional document-backed source corroborates him. Art/Arthur Jr. is now represented as a lead only; the new 1973-1974 newspaper notices add context for the 373 East 232 St. household but do not justify canonical person updates without user acceptance and direct identity evidence.
Document-Backed Migration Chain Implementation, 24 April 2026
Implemented the migration-chain plan in
iacofano-document-backed-migration-chain-implementation-2026-04-24.
The pass confirmed there were no new CPL, WEPL, cemetery, census,
naturalization, passenger, or Italian civil-record artifacts in 00_inbox/.
Public exact-address and naturalization searches did not expose a
document-ready 1930 census image, Cuyahoga/federal Cleveland naturalization
record, voter-naturalization index entry, or qualifying passenger candidate for
John/Giovanni or Mary/Maria. The 1930 address-browse target is now narrower:
Morse/Weintraub 1930 ED finder data places Cleveland Random Rd in suffixes
362 and 369, and Paul Av intersects only 362, so browse Cuyahoga/
Cleveland ED 18-362 first if 2025 Random Rd. is on the Random/Paul block,
then 18-369 as fallback. No new source, event, or person record was created
from this migration-chain pass.
The current working rule remains unchanged: keep lead-john-iacofano-1874 open
until at least two document-backed U.S. sources tie John/Giovanni to Arthur or
Mary/Maria's household and resolve the death/birth-year conflict. Keep
lead-giovanni-iaciofano-busso-1876 as a Busso comparison candidate only until
a U.S. source bridges Arthur's father to Busso or original Busso records plus
U.S. identity anchors support the merge.
