Arthur J. Iacofano WWII Public NARA Follow-Up - 27 April 2026

Scope

This follow-up continues HIR-20260423-025 after the 26 April public NARA Company B/Fort Bliss/Muroc/replacement sweep. It used public NARA Catalog API and extracted-text endpoints for exact serial number 35066128, Arthur name variants, and the 90th Infantry/Camp Carson transition visible in the earlier Camp Haan and replacement evidence.

Repository guardrails followed:

  • New source and event records were created as status: proposed.
  • No 01_people/ record was updated from proposed military evidence.
  • Public TIFF objects were converted into small upright PDF extracts and ingested through scripts/ingest_record.py / scripts/media_library.py.
  • The new facts are treated as source-backed military chronology, not as canonical person-record updates.

New Proposed Events

Interpretation

The 4 May 1944 Camp Haan transfer order is medium-confidence for Arthur by itself because the name line is faint, although serial number 35066128 is visible. The 10 May 1944 Camp Carson Special Orders page is high-confidence: it names Iacofano, Aruthur J., serial 35066128, grade Pvt, under Company H. The July 1944 Company H pages then provide Camp Carson continuity before the later replacement and Company B/175th Infantry evidence.

The 17 July 1944 Company H correction should be read carefully. It corrects an earlier furlough-to-AWOL style entry to a furlough-to-duty entry, two days late, with the furlough extended two days per VOCO. It should not be treated as a final misconduct finding without OMPF, Form 102, or fuller Morning Report continuity.

HIR Status

This pass moves the public NARA unit-roster/Morning Report lane forward, but it does not close HIR-20260423-025. The highest-value remaining records still require human, account, staff, or archive action:

  • WWII Selective Service Form 1/Form 102.
  • WD AGO/discharge paper, family-held or county-recorded.
  • OMPF or fire-reconstructed file.
  • SGO hospital-admission card.
  • Full Company B/175th and post-drop Morning Report continuity.
  • Indiantown Gap separation-center context.
  • 29th Division Association, VA/BIRLS, and signed-in/local newspaper lanes.

No canonical person record was updated from these proposed military sources.
