Possible relative

John Iacofano

The accepted 1941 Cuyahoga County marriage record for Arthur Joe Iacofano names Arthur's father as John Iacofano. The accepted 1920 census records John Yaciofano, age 46 and born in Italy, as head of a Cleveland household with wife Mary and children Albert and Anna at house number 2025. That house number may connect to Arthur's 1941 residence at 2025 Random Rd., but a second document should corroborate the John/Giovanni identity before promotion.

Why this is not settled yet

1874 –

  • Can a 1930 census, city directory, obituary, death record, or naturalization file confirm John or Giovanni as Arthur Joe Iacofano's father?
  • Was John deceased before the 1940 census, where Mary Iacofano is recorded as widowed?
  • What exact Italian birthplace or comune is stated in naturalization, passenger, death, or obituary records?

Notes

Notes

  • Lead created 23 April 2026 during the paternal Iacofano research pass.
  • CPL has a 1932 necrology/cemetery index entry for "Iaciofano, John" with lifespan 1887-1932; this conflicts with the current about-1874 birth estimate and should be treated as a possible variant or separate person until the cemetery record is obtained.
  • The 1976 Plain Dealer obituary scan for Maria Giovanna Iacofano, nee Lorenzo, names her as wife of the late John and mother of Arthur; this strengthens the John/Maria/Arthur cluster, but it still does not resolve John's birth year or whether the 1932 Iaciofano cemetery record is the same man.
  • The 2021 Tony Iacofano Army narrative says Arthur's father died in the early 1930s when Arthur was about nine; treat that as secondary family context that broadly supports, but does not prove, the existing 1932 John/Iaciofano death lane.
  • The 23 April 2026 Campobasso/Toro pass preserved a public ItalianGenealogy forum thread that reports a Giovanni Iaciofano born about 1876 in Busso to Biagio/Biase Iaciofano and Anna Maria Santangelo. This is a same-surname clue only; it does not yet connect to Arthur, Mary Lorenzo/Laurenzo, Cleveland, or 2025 Random Rd.
  • Keep John/Giovanni as a lead until at least two document-backed sources tie him to Arthur or to Mary J. Laurenzo's household.
  • Do not update any canonical person record based on this lead alone.
