NARA Special Order Number 21, dated 25 June 1944 at Headquarters, 2605th AAF Base Unit (College Training, Aircrew), Union University, Jackson, Tennessee, lists Gordon F. Ponceby, serial number 15127392, among aviation students ordered to Pampa Army Air Field, Texas, on or about 28 June 1944. Gordon's line records 8 weeks of college training; the order states the group was to report not later than 30 June 1944 for on-the-line aircrew training pending assignment to pre-flight school.
