Reading notes
Things to be careful about
- Manual transcription created from the census image because local OCR tools were unavailable.
- The repository PDF excludes the printed FamilySearch citation page; the original two-page download is preserved separately.
- The municipality is confirmed as Edson Town from a re-read of the image in April 2026; this directly corroborates Catherine's death place (Edson, Alberta, 1927) from the death index.
- Catharine's surname is recorded as McKay on this image-backed census page; the repo currently identifies Donald Edwin Ponceby's spouse as Catherine Mackie Horne from weaker secondary evidence, so this discrepancy needs review.
- The household includes both a one-year-old son Donald Stuart and a second son recorded as Gordon Francis, age 5.
- Full-resolution visual reread on 23 April 2026 confirms that Gordon Francis's age still appears to be "5"; no clear fraction, month notation, or other correction mark is visible in the age cell.
- If this Gordon Francis is the same person as the repo's Gordon Francis Ponceby, the reported age conflicts sharply with the current birth date of 1 January 1926 and should be reviewed before any canonical person update.

Notes
Archive notes
- Printed citation page removed from repository PDF; original download preserved as 05_raw/pdfs/1926-census-ponceby-household-1926-original-with-citation.pdf.
- This source strengthens the placement of Donald Edwin Ponceby in Peace River South, Alberta, on 1 June 1926.
- The 23 April 2026 reread did not resolve the conflict with Gordon Francis Ponceby's naturalization-record birth date; it strengthened the need for a birth registration or border/admission record.
- Do not treat the recorded McKay surname or the children's identities as canonical beyond this source until they are reviewed alongside the existing Horne identification and Gordon Francis Ponceby's current birth details.
