Online Lead Research Implementation - 23 April 2026

This pass implemented the online lead research plan as a source-first public-web and repository-index sweep. No files in 05_raw/ were manually edited, no source was promoted to accepted, no 01_people/ record was updated, and index-only evidence was kept at lead/source level.

Repo Posture

  • Starting preflight: 20 people, 108 sources, 34 events, 27 leads, 24 open human-input items, 0 validation errors.
  • After the initial pass: one new proposed source and one new lead were added for a PEI McKinnon/Mac Kennon candidate. The follow-up online-plan implementation added a second low-confidence proposed source documenting a conflict lead for the same candidate.
  • Existing dirty worktree state predated this pass; unrelated changes were left in place.

New Proposed Source

Source Lead linkage Value Gate
source-paro-baptismal-index-entry-for-margaret-ann-mckinnon-1868 lead-margaret-mac-kennon-1868, lead-donald-mac-kinnon-1815, lead-elizabeth-jardine-1820 PARO online baptismal-index entry for Margaret Ann McKinnon, baptized 19 October 1868 at Hampton; father Donald McKinnon, mother Elizabeth, residence/birthplace DeSable. Index does not state Elizabeth's surname; order or locate the register copy before treating this as proof of Elizabeth Jardine.
source-island-register-descendants-of-archibald-mckinnon-of-desable lead-margaret-mac-kennon-1868, lead-donald-mac-kinnon-1815, lead-elizabeth-jardine-1820 Compiled Island Register page repeats the PARO baptism details, places the same Margaret Ann McKinnon candidate in a Donald McKinnon / Elizabeth McKay family, and assigns her to a Harvey John Risteen marriage/census path. Use only as a conflict lead; locate the original Risteen marriage/register images and the PARO baptism register before identifying the PARO candidate as Walter Pownceby's wife.

New human-input item: HIR-20260423-026 for the underlying PARO baptismal register copy or an archive response that no original is available.

Iacofano Paternal Line

Public searches for Iacofano surname variants did not produce a new durable artifact beyond the CPL/News-Herald index sources already in the repo and the prepared scan packet.

Search variants used: Iacofano, Iaciofano, Yaciofano, Jaciofano, Iaicofano, Iasofano; John, Giovanni, Mary, Maria, Albert, Anna, Biagio, Blaise, Joseph, Dorothy, Lawrence; address 2025 Random Rd.

Current action remains unchanged:

  • Submit the CPL Day 1 scan request for Maria Iacofano 1976, Lawrence J. Iacofano 1997, and John Iaciofano 1932. Tracked in HIR-20260423-010.
  • Use signed-in FamilySearch/Ancestry/library routes for 1930 census and naturalization images. Tracked in HIR-20260423-014.
  • Use signed-in newspaper/library lanes for 1950-1970 collateral Iacofano newspaper searches. Tracked in HIR-20260423-024 and HIR-20260423-025.

Covered leads: lead-john-iacofano-1874, lead-mary-j-laurenzo-iacofano-1885, lead-albert-yaciofano-1910, lead-anna-yaciofano-1914, lead-biagio-iacofano-1915, lead-joseph-iacofano-1918, lead-dorothy-iacofano-1925, lead-lawrence-iacofano-1928, lead-john-iacofano-1944, lead-lynda-lee-iacofano-1947, and lead-art-iacofano-1952.

Ponceby, Alberta, And Later-Spouse Leads

Public searches did not expose Gordon Francis Ponceby's 3 January 1942 Detroit / Ambassador Bridge card, Donald Edwin Ponceby's AIR 79 image, Donald's Ohio death certificate, Dorothy D. Ponceby's Ohio death certificate, or a marriage / obituary source proving Jane N., Dorothy D., or Helen M. Ponceby relationships. Existing HIR items remain the active gates.

Marjorie Eleanor Ponceby update:

  • Rechecked the Alberta Genealogy Research Edmonton Journal 1930-1934 catalog path at https://www.albertagenealogy-research.ca/Data/Catalogs/EdmontonJournal1930-1934.pdf.
  • Cached search text places the entry on catalog page 174 of 238 and reads PONCEBY, Marjorie Eleanor (Mrs. Do, 1932, born about 1907, size M, type Death.
  • The live catalog URL still redirects to an account-suspended page and could not be downloaded; no source was created from the search snippet.
  • Updated lead-marjorie-ponceby-1932 and HIR-20260423-003 with the exact URL/page/snippet context.

Covered leads: lead-jane-n-ponceby-1942, lead-dorothy-d-ponceby-1956, lead-helen-m-ponceby-1957, lead-marjorie-ponceby-1932, plus Walter/Pownceby English-line blockers reflected in HIR-20260423-008.

Shirley Armstrong / Seem / Darrow / Hill

Public searches for the current top targets did not expose new official images for Minnie Seems 1933, Samuel Seem 1962, Samuel/Minnie marriage and census images, Thomas/Orpha marriage or death certificates, or Jeremiah/Mary Armstrong Wyandot proof images.

This pass did not pursue the Clarence Darrow relationship beyond the existing comparison lead because Minnie Darrow's parents remain document-gated.

Active gates remain:

  • HIR-20260423-016 for source review before any canonical update.
  • HIR-20260423-018 through HIR-20260423-023 for certificates, marriage/census images, Armstrong/Schauweker proof, and Lola obituary artifact work.
  • HIR-20260423-017 remains superseded by the split items.

Covered leads: lead-samuel-henry-seem-1870, lead-minnie-eva-darrow-1875, lead-herman-seem-1837, lead-mary-jane-myers-1845, lead-orpha-effie-hill-1886, and lead-clarence-seward-darrow-1857.

McKinnon / PEI / Scotland And Pownceby / England

PARO searches completed:

  • Standard archive search for Donald McKinnon returned mostly late court/textual records and one photograph bucket; no direct child-link artifact was identified from the standard search list.
  • Standard archive search for Elizabeth Jardine returned no useful hit.
  • Standard archive search for John Duncan MacKinnon returned no useful hit.
  • Vital-search for Donald McKinnon produced a broad baptism bucket of 38 records; this was treated as too broad except for parent-filter refinement.
  • Strict vital parent filter with father Donald McKinnon and mother Elizabeth Jardine returned empty.
  • Broader vital parent filter with father Donald McKinnon and mother Elizabeth returned eight baptism results. Most were tied to other mothers or mother surnames, but one candidate was material: Margaret Ann McKinnon, baptized 19 October 1868, father Donald McKinnon, mother Elizabeth, residence/birthplace DeSable.
  • No Donald G. McKinnon baptism was found in the Donald + Elizabeth parent-filter results.

Actions taken:

  • Ingested the Margaret Ann McKinnon PARO online index as one proposed source.
  • Ingested a low-confidence Island Register compiled genealogy page as source-island-register-descendants-of-archibald-mckinnon-of-desable because it creates a material conflict: the same PARO Margaret Ann candidate is placed under Donald McKinnon and Elizabeth McKay and may have married Harvey John Risteen in Massachusetts rather than Walter Pownceby.
  • Created lead-margaret-mac-kennon-1868 rather than updating any canonical person.
  • Updated lead-donald-mac-kinnon-1815, lead-elizabeth-jardine-1820, and lead-donald-g-mckinnon-1865 with the PEI search result/negative result.
  • Added HIR-20260423-026 for the underlying PARO baptism register and HIR-20260423-028 for the original Margaret A. McKinnon / Harvey John Risteen marriage check.

Deferred:

  • Do not extend the two John McKinnon Campbell Cemetery leads into Scotland/Nova Scotia until the PEI child-link problem is stronger.
  • Do not extend Walter George Ponceby's English line until the Edwin Pownceby GRO birth certificate/image gate is cleared.
  • Do not treat PARO record ID 93017 as Margaret Mac Kennon/Ponceby unless the Elizabeth McKay / Risteen path is disproved or reconciled with original records.

Covered leads: lead-donald-mac-kinnon-1815, lead-elizabeth-jardine-1820, lead-donald-g-mckinnon-1865, lead-emma-j-conrad-1864, lead-john-mckinnon-argyle-shire-1794, lead-john-mckinnon-isle-of-mull-1790, and new lead-margaret-mac-kennon-1868.

Next Pass Order

  1. Rebuild indexes and validate records after this pass.
  2. If validation is clean, continue with staff/signed-in gates rather than more broad public web search: CPL Day 1, PARO Margaret register copy, Gordon Detroit card, Alberta registrations, OHC certificates, GRO Edwin certificate.
  3. Only create new events from image-backed or document-backed sources, not from the PARO/Edmonton Journal index snippets.
