Iacofano Campobasso/Toro Civil-Record Access Check - 29 April 2026

Scope

Follow-up on HIR-20260423-029, focused on whether the current agent environment can reach original Italian civil-register images or annual indexes for the Iacofano Campobasso/Toro task.

No person records were updated. No new raw artifact or proposed source record was created because no original civil-register image, register page, or downloadable index image was reachable in this pass.

Access Results

FamilySearch:

  • Public collection page reached: https://www.familysearch.org/en/search/collection/1968528.
  • The collection page identifies Italy, Campobasso, Civil Registration (State Archive), 1809-1918 as civil registration for births, marriages, deaths, indexes, banns, processetti, and related records from the Archivio di Stato di Campobasso.
  • The public page offered Browse All 2,171,605 Images, but opening that route redirected to a FamilySearch sign-in page in the agent context.
  • Direct shell/API probes to FamilySearch image and waypoint URLs timed out from the current environment. Existing metadata-only source records continue to show restricted/unauthorized image access for the Busso image targets already identified in the research packet.

Portale Antenati:

  • Public search snippets confirmed the official Archivio di Stato di Campobasso page and the Campobasso state-civil collection context: https://antenati.cultura.gov.it/archivio/archivio-di-stato-di-campobasso/.
  • The snippets describe the Campobasso civil-status fonds as second-copy birth, marriage, death, index, and annex registers for the province, with partial digitization and added decennial indexes/annexes from 1866.
  • Live direct shell access to antenati.cultura.gov.it failed over both HTTP and HTTPS on 29 April 2026. The first advertised IPv4 endpoint timed out; alternate advertised IPv4 endpoints returned no route to host.
  • Targeted public search for Iacofano/Iaciofano, Toro, Busso, San Giuliano del Sannio, and Sepino did not surface an original image for the direct research targets.

Current Status

This pass did not complete a true negative browse of the Toro registers. It only confirmed that the agent still cannot perform the needed original-image browse from this environment.

HIR-20260423-029 should remain open until one of these is added to the repo:

  • an original Italian civil-register image or register/index page preserved as a raw artifact with one proposed source record per artifact; or
  • an authoritative negative browse note based on signed-in/manual access to the relevant register/index images.

Next Manual Browse Order

  1. FamilySearch collection 1968528, signed in: open Browse All Images, then browse catalog 329044 / Toro annual and decennial indexes before page-level Nati, Matrimoni, Matrimoni, pubblicazioni, Morti, and processetti.
  2. Search 1872-1890 for Giovanni/Gio. Iacofano, Iaciofano, Jaciofano, or Yaciofano; include the 1886-1888 conflict window from the 1932 John clue.
  3. Search 1883-1887 for Maria, Maria Giovanna, or Mariagiovanna Lorenzo/Laurenzo.
  4. If Toro is negative, record the negative index check and proceed only through the named nearby-comune sequence from the 24 April research packet.
  5. Use the exact Busso image/waypoint targets from the research packet only as a comparison lane unless a U.S. record or original Italian image bridges Busso to Tony's direct line.
  6. For the maternal line, use San Giuliano del Sannio catalog 328487 to view Domenico Ricciardi birth certificate No. 62 from 29 August 1891, then look for the Domenico/Cristina marriage or processetti.
