Arthur's identity as Arthur Joe/J. Iacofano of Cleveland, son of John Iacofano and Mary J. Laurenzo source-marriage-record-arthur-joe-iacofano-mary-ricciardi-1941 accepted Image-backed county marriage record, high Tony's narrative says Arthur and Mary were about 22 at marriage; the image-backed record says both were 19. Keep marriage record as controlling identity bridge unless a stronger original record contradicts it.
Arthur in Mary Iacofano's pre-war household source-census-iacofano-household-1940 accepted Image-backed federal census, high Arthur is age 17 in April 1940, supporting birth about 1922/1923. Street address still not normalized from the image. Use with marriage record to anchor draft-card and 1930 census searches.
Paternal household before Arthur's birth source-census-yaciofano-household-1920 accepted Image-backed federal census, medium John/Mary/Albert/Anna are recorded as Yaciofano; Arthur is not yet born. This is a parent-household lead, not direct evidence for Arthur. Locate 1930 household and John/Giovanni death/naturalization evidence before Italian civil-record merging.
Arthur's marriage, Random Rd residence, barber occupation source-marriage-record-arthur-joe-iacofano-mary-ricciardi-1941 accepted Image-backed county marriage record, high None material; this outranks Tony's age statement. Search WWII draft card around 2025 Random Rd and barber occupation.
Army serial number and enlistment/index data source-army-serial-number-merged-file-entry-for-arthur-j-iacofano-1943; source-arthur-j-iacofano-wwii-narrative-just-a-kid-from-little-italy proposed Official NARA AAD database record, high; family narrative, medium AAD gives enlistment date 14 June 1943; Tony reports draft notice 14 June 1943 and Army entry 28 June 1943. Treat as distinct administrative dates until OMPF/discharge resolves them. Request OMPF/reconstructed file and search draft-card collections using serial 35066128, Cleveland/Cuyahoga, birth year 22, married barber.
WWII unit, Fort Bliss training, Company B/175th/29th service, Morning Report NBC entries, discharge at Indiantown Gap source-arthur-j-iacofano-wwii-narrative-just-a-kid-from-little-italy proposed Secondary family-authored narrative with embedded reproductions, medium Pages 6-7 say some battlefield scenes are reconstructed. Embedded Morning Report excerpts are not standalone raw artifacts. Obtain original OMPF/discharge, Morning Report pages for Sep-Nov 1944, and hospital/NBC evidence before accepting detailed service claims.

User review/acceptance can later support canonical residence/person updates; no 01_people/ updates made from proposed sources.
Arthur-Mary-John/Tony family context source-census-iacofano-household-1950; source-obituary-mary-iacofano-2018; source-newspaper-notice-anthony-iacofano-army-training-1971; source-identity-note-arthur-iacofano-tony-iacofano-2026; source-arthur-j-iacofano-wwii-narrative-just-a-kid-from-little-italy accepted/proposed mixed 1950 census is direct household evidence once accepted; obituary and contemporary newspaper notice are stronger than identity note; Tony PDF is family narrative 1950 census lists John A., age 6, as a son and Anthony, age 3, as a son. John remains lead-john-iacofano-1944 until user acceptance and later identity evidence support promotion. Keep as family-link support; do not use Tony's PDF alone or this proposed census source for person-record updates before acceptance.
Arthur's death and late-life identity source-death-index-arthur-j-iacofano-1985; source-online-summary-arthur-j-iacofano-2026 accepted News-Herald obituary index, medium; Ancestry public profile, low Online profile is compiled and low-confidence. Death index gives age 62 and publication/date context but not a full obituary image. Complete CPL Plain Dealer obituary request; order death certificate only if obituary does not supply enough identity/burial detail.
Maria/Mary Iacofano obituary as child-list bridge source-obituary-plain-dealer-maria-iacofano-1976; source-online-index-cpl-news-index-maria-iacofano-1976 proposed Newspaper scan/index, high/medium once accepted Useful for John/Maria child set, but still proposed and not a direct immigration-origin source. Await user review/acceptance before person-record updates.
John/Giovanni and Mary/Maria immigrant origin 1920/1940 census, 1941 marriage, Maria obituary, directory sources accepted/proposed mixed U.S. records are necessary bridge evidence; no commune-proof source yet Busso/Toro/Campobasso Iaciofano leads remain comparison leads only. Prioritize naturalization files, Board of Elections naturalized-voter index, AR-2/Flexoline only after likely A-number match, then passenger lists.

Public Search Implementation Notes

  • NARA AAD Army Serial Number Merged File: searched serial 35066128 in the in-app browser. Result was one record, IACOFANO#ARTHUR#J#######, residence Ohio/Cuyahoga, enlistment place Cleveland, enlistment date 14 June 1943, birth year 22, married, barber, selectee from civil life. Ingested as source-army-serial-number-merged-file-entry-for-arthur-j-iacofano-1943.
  • NARA OMPF page confirms pre-1960 archival requests need complete name, service number, branch, date/place of birth, service dates, and for fire-affected records, place of discharge, last assigned unit, and entry place. Arthur's package should cite serial 35066128, Company B / 175th Infantry Regiment, discharge 13 January 1946, Indiantown Gap, and Cleveland entry context.
  • NARA 1973 fire page confirms Army personnel discharged 1 November 1912 through 1 January 1960 are in the high-loss fire cohort and that auxiliary records may reconstruct service.
  • NARA Morning Reports page confirms 1912-1968 Army Morning Reports are archival but not handled by written request; access is through the St. Louis Archival Research Room or an independent researcher.
  • 29th Division Association Morning Reports page is member-restricted and states the Morning Reports are a dues-paying member benefit.
  • Official 1950 Census website follow-up on 24 April 2026 used the directory-backed address 373 E 232d to prioritize Euclid ED 18-126. NARA's ED card describes 18-126 as Euclid Ward 2 bounded by Lake Shore Blvd.; E. 238th, Farringdon; Williams, Gay; Babbitt Rd., with 22 pages. The NARA ED/name API then surfaced one noisy surname hit in ED 18-126; the household appears at schedule ID 4336794, manifest page p.9, sheet 8, enumerated 26 April 1950 by Thomas F Cox. Ingested as source-census-iacofano-household-1950.
  • Internet Archive/Euclid Public Library directory OCR and page extraction produced 1952 and 1954 proposed source records. The 1954 alphabetical Iacofano section surfaced Joseph J. Iacofano but not Arthur; the street listing still records Arthur at 373 E 232d.
  • Public web searches for Arthur's draft card and WWII hospital admission card did not produce a durable public hit. Search results and NARA/History Hub guidance point back to Fold3/Ancestry or archive-held hospital-admission-card access by service number.

Priority Next Actions

  1. User review: decide whether to accept the new AAD, 1950 census, and directory sources after visual/source review.
  2. Military: submit OMPF/reconstructed-file request; obtain county-recorded or family-held discharge if any; pursue Morning Reports through St. Louis or a 29th Division Association member/researcher.
  3. Census/residence: 1950 household located in ED 18-126; continue 1930 household search with surname variants and Random Rd context.
  4. Vital records: locate/order Arthur's Cleveland/Cuyahoga birth record; keep the 1985 obituary scan request ahead of the Ohio death certificate.
  5. Immigration/origin: pursue John/Giovanni and Mary/Maria naturalization/Board of Elections records before treating Busso/Toro/Campobasso Italian candidates as anything more than comparison leads.
