Arthur J. Iacofano WWII Morning Report Search - 26 April 2026

Scope

Goal: complete the Company B, 175th Infantry Regiment Morning Report lane in HIR-20260423-025 as far as public NARA Catalog access allows, without updating canonical person records from proposed military evidence.

This pass searched NARA Catalog file-unit records and extracted-text endpoints for Arthur J. Iacofano, serial number 35066128, and the Company B 175th Infantry November 1944 entries described in the family narrative.

The NARA extracted-text service was useful for locating candidate pages, but it misread key fields. The repository source record relies on visual review of the page images.

Public Sweep Continuation

Later on 26 April 2026, a broader public NARA Catalog/API sweep expanded beyond the known Company B entries. It ingested proposed Fort Bliss December 1943, Muroc/Camp Haan March 1944, and replacement-context Arthur/ASN packets:

Company B/175th continuity notes from that broader pass:

  • Existing known-entry NAIDs remain 570378119 and 575575999.
  • October continuity NAID 572731436 showed Company B/175th context in public lanes, but no durable exact Arthur/ASN hit.
  • December context NAID 578740289 showed Company B/175th context in public lanes, but no durable exact Arthur/ASN hit.
  • Tested public query lanes did not surface a durable January 1945 Company B/175th Catalog hit naming Arthur/ASN.

Findings

Report date Station as recorded Arthur entry
28 September 1944 On train enroute to New Location 35066128 Iacofano, Arthur J, Pvt, code 745; assigned and joined from the 48th Replacement organization.

23 November 1944 Aldenhoven, 1/4 mi NE, VK 9857, Nord De Guerre 35066128 Iacofano, Arthur J., Pvt, code 745; Fr Dy to Hosp NBC, 22 November.

25 November 1944 Aldenhoven, 1/4 mi NE, VK 9857, Nord De Guerre 35066128 Iacofano, Arthur J., Pvt, code 745; Fr Hosp NBC to Dy 1 Nov.

The primary pages support Arthur's Company B, 175th Infantry Regiment presence in September-November 1944 and verify the NBC/hospital-status entries at the level shown in the Morning Reports. They do not provide a medical diagnosis, full service chronology, or discharge details.

The 2 November and 25 November entries should be preserved together: one records Arthur going from duty to hospital NBC effective 1 November, and the later page records him going from hospital NBC to duty effective 1 November. Treat this as a status correction or unresolved chronology until the OMPF, hospital-card, or fuller Morning Report continuity evidence is acquired.

HIR Status

This completes the targeted public Morning Report pull for the known Arthur entries. HIR-20260423-025 remains open because the remaining acquisition lanes still require human/account/archive action:

  • OMPF or fire-reconstructed file request.
  • WWII Selective Service draft card and classification ledger search.
  • Family-held WD AGO/discharge scan request.
  • SGO/Fold3/Ancestry hospital-admission-card lookup.
  • Cuyahoga County recorded-discharge search.
  • 29th Division Association materials request.

No canonical person record was updated from these proposed military records.
